Sisal is a natural product used to make rope. We only use extra thick sisal with a diameter of at least 6 millimeters. Additionally, our posts have an impressive trunk thickness ranging from a minimum of 5 to up to 20 centimeters. This ensures the best quality and durability for your cat.

At Petrebels, we use a special bonding technique for the sisal and plush on our scratching posts. This makes the posts more resistant to the scratching and playing of cats, resulting in scratching posts that can last up to 30% longer than others on the market. The thickness of plush also affects the lifespan of cat furniture. An active or large cat needs thicker plush than a lighter or less active cat. We don’t make distinctions and believe that every cat deserves the very best – that’s why we use fine, thick 500 or 600-gram plush of excellent quality for every product.

When designing our scratching posts and cat furniture, the thickness of the base plate is crucial. A thicker base plate ensures an even more stable construction. The average scratching post has a base plate only 0.8 cm thick, which is much too thin. That’s why at Petrebels, we only use heavy-duty base plates ranging from 2 to 5 centimeters thick.
